I agree with @mobilian33. Traffic can be a hassle when you are trying to get around and see the tourist attractions in Atlanta. I have a friend who works there and he leaves his house at five in the morning to beat the morning rush.

However, the city does have good public transportation, so getting around doesn't have to be a major pain. You can sit back and let someone else do the driving.

From what I have been told and what I have read, you should plan on spending a good bit of time in traffic if you are driving in Atlanta. The traffic is terrible. That's true about many large cities, but Atlanta is worse because enough roads haven't been built to keep up with the all the locals and commuters you get on the highways during rush hours. Weekends aren't supposed to be nearly as bad unless there are several big events going on.

It's not mentioned in the article, but Six Flags Over Georgia is a great place to visit when you are in Georgia. Actually, the amusement park is not in Atlanta, but it is really close. That might be why it wasn't talked about in this article.

Anyway, for people who like amusements parks this is a great place. The park has some of the best roller coasters I have seen at any amusement park. They have the really fast ones. There are also several water rides. This is good because the park was very hot the couple times I went there.

I haven't been in October, but the park has special events for Halloween. This is something the kids would enjoy. There are other kids' attractions, too.
