Marketing is a field of business dedicated to promoting, advertising, and selling goods and services. Professionals in the marketing field may be responsible for researching the needs and desires of potential clients in order to expand a customer base and may also develop strategies for selling and advertising goods and services. In order to choose the best marketing program, you should first consider which degree or certification best serves your career goals. Factors such as reputation, cost, and location may also be important in choosing the marketing program that is best for your needs.

In most regions, a degree or certification is not required to practice as a marketing specialist. Many employers, however, may seek job candidates who have had training that illustrates an aspiring professional's understanding of key concepts and methods relevant in the marketing field. A marketing executive, for example, is a professional who is able to not only promote and sell goods and services, but is also capable of handling larger issues related to business management and administration. Professionals who hope to become marketing executives often have a great deal of training in marketing, finance, and business management.

The best marketing program may be the one that has the strongest reputation or highest degree of prestige. Some experts believe that programs that are ranked higher by various school survey boards are more apt at providing students with a strong education. These programs often include faculty members who are prominent in the marketing field because of factors such as professional experience and the publication of important books and academic articles. Prestige and reputation may also be determined by selectivity of admissions and the level of hands on experience offered by the program.

Cost may also play a part in choosing the best marketing program. Those schools with the best reputations tend to be the most expensive. Marketing students often find that financial assistance in the form of grants and scholarships are available to cover all or part of tuition. Location may also determine the cost of attending a business marketing program. Schools located in expensive urban areas may be more costly than those in rural areas with lower costs of living.

You may find that the best marketing program is the one located in a city or region that you enjoy or feel most comfortable in. Some students prefer programs that are close to home since attendance usually does not require moving. Online programs are preferred by many because they allow students the flexibility to study from any location where there is a reliable internet connection.
