I use emu oil shampoo because I heard that emu oil gets absorbed deep into hair follicles and nourishes it from the inside. Hair and scalp problems, especially early graying, runs in my family and I'm hoping that this shampoo will provide some extra protection.
I don't wash my hair with emu oil shampoo every single time though. I use it once or twice a week and wash with a different shampoo on other days. So I basically use it like a treatment, it works for me.

I don't really enjoy using animal based products either. I was also surprised and disappointed when I first heard about where emu oil comes from. Emu oil shampoo is great for very damage hair that's prone to shedding. I had a health disorder last year that caused major hair loss. I was depressed and unsure of what to do. Emu oil shampoo helped my hair and scalp recover and I'm grateful that this product is available. I also use emu oil balm on my joints as a pain reliever for arthritis.
I respect people who choose to stay away from animal based products. Even though I use them, I don't wish for any animal to suffer because of it.
