Boasting a rich and varied history, it is at home in the upper portion of Narragansett Bay. From museums and cultural opportunities to shopping and fine dining, Warwick, Rhode Island has much to offer.

For those who enjoy shopping, Warwick has much to explore. In fact, it is considered the retail capital of Rhode Island. Visitors can browse through a varied selection of stores in the two major malls in the area: Warwick Mall and Rhode Island Mall. However, there is more to the city then just shopping malls; it has a number of antique, book, and craft stores, as well as quaint boutiques.

Those who believe no city is complete without a comprehensive selection of restaurants from which to choose are likely to find Warwick's restaurant list more than satisfactory. This city is home to an abundance of restaurants, ranging from traditional fare to unique, gourmet cuisine. There are family restaurants and fast-food eateries, as well as taverns, seafood restaurants, and first-class dining establishments. Although there are many privately owned restaurants in Warwick, there are also numerous chain restaurants to patronize.

For visitors who enjoy the great outdoors, Warwick offers city and state parks. Goddard Memorial State Park, for example, offers visitors many activities to enjoy, including picnic lunches, horseback rides, and a public, salt-water beach. The park contains nature trails and a nine-hole, public golf course. Warwick City Park also boasts a salt-water beach, as well as its own bathhouse, and a special area just for kids. This park offers visitors the chance to enjoy ball fields, hiking and biking along paths.

If historical sites are high on a visitor's agenda, the city can satisfy this desire is well. The Aldrich Mansion is a major attraction and rests on a 75-acre estate. The mansion once belonged to Senator Nelson W. Aldrich. Visitors go to the Aldrich Mansion to take in its elegant beauty and enjoy fine art and architecture that has been around for many years. The Aspray Boat House also sees its fair share of visitors; it was once the primary meeting spot of the Gaspee Days Committee and the Pawtuxet Village Association.

There is no need to go far to look for reading material in Warwick, as the city has its own public Library. The library houses more than just books. It is equipped with meeting rooms and a selection of computers. For those who need a jolt of caffeine, the library even boasts its own coffee shop.

Art lives in Warwick, Rhode Island, especially in the Warwick Museum of Art. The museum hosts exhibits of various sizes, including group and solo exhibitions. It has a main gallery and a small-works gallery. The museum also offers live theater and provides opportunities to view independent films. Gaining admittance to the museum is usually free, but a fee may be charged for special events.
