The Vampire Facelift™ is a procedure that uses a patient's own blood in a facelift procedure to make him appear younger. With this type of procedure, a cosmetic surgeon seeks to fill in parts of a patient's face that are looking droopy, older, and lined to give it a lift that results in a younger appearance. Often, this is accomplished with surgery, but sometimes fillers are injected into the skin instead. With a Vampire Facelift™, one of the fillers is made of a foreign substance but the other is created from the patient's own blood. The use of the patient's own blood may be the reason for the use of the word "vampire."
There are many procedures a patient can try in an effort to get a more youthful look. Many people think of cutting into the skin when they consider facelifts, but this isn't always the case. Instead, some techniques involve injecting the skin with fillers to get rid of unsightly drooping, tighten the skin, and diminish lines. Often, preparations are made using foreign substances that act as fillers, but this is not always the case. Instead, some people opt to have their doctors use blood from their own bodies to help them look younger.
To perform a Vampire Facelift™, a doctor must draw his patient's blood to create one of the fillers. He doesn't, however, simply inject the patient's blood into his face. Instead, he obtains cells called platelets from the blood sample his patient provides and uses them to create a substance similar to gel that is called "platelet rich fibrin meteoric." He then injects this substance into the patient's face in order to help achieve the more youthful appearance he seeks. This blood-derived substance is even said to help rejuvenate the patient's skin. As such, it may not only help to sculpt and shape, but also to improve blood flow to the area and stimulate the production of collagen.
It is important to note that a variety of doctors might use blood to create fillers for the face, but this doesn't always mean they are performing Vampire Facelift™ procedures. There are certain methods that must be used by a certified practitioner in order for the procedure to be called a Vampire Facelift™. As such, it is important for patients who want to obtain this type of facelift to choose a doctor who is certified in the technique.

@JaneAir - I think I would also feel a lot more comfortable with a Vampire Facelift versus a more traditional facelift.
I'm actually more interested in this whole idea for other medical procedures though. If a doctor can use your own blood to make a substance that can be injected into your face, the possibilities seem endless! I feel like if this is possible, it's only a matter of time before doctors will be able to build us new organs with our tissue.
I think most plastic surgery sounds pretty scary. Especially procedures on the face! The idea of having fillers injected into my face gives me the willies.
However, I think I would actually get a Vampire Facelift done. I feel much more comfortable with the idea of having a substance made from my own body injected into my face, rather than something chemical.
Luckily, I don't need any work done on my face yet. But this Vampire Facelift procedure gives me hope that by the time I get old enough to be worried about this stuff, there will be even more procedures available using the patients own tissue.
@Sara007 - My mother is pretty savvy when it comes to beauty procedures and she recently tried out the Vampire Facelift as she also like the idea of making a filler out of your own platelets.
My mother didn't complain too much about the procedure being painful, but she felt the results were similar to any other filler she has had. I think the real selling point of the Vampire Facelift is that it is using your own body fluids to make a filler that is safe and you won't react poorly too. Some people can have bad reactions to some fillers, so if you are allergy prone, the Vampire Facelift may be for you.
I have been looking for some ways to look younger and I must admit, out of all the different products and kinds of facelifts out there, the Vampire Facelift really surprised me. I was a bit shocked that doctors are now able to develop a filer with our own blood. It seems so much safer than the mix of chemicals and surgery that has been offered in the past.
Has anyone ever had a Vampire Facelift? Did you find it pretty painless, and would you do it again if needed?
I think a Vampire Facelift seems like a good place to start, rather than just jumping into more serious surgery.
