What Is the Best Way to Travel from Spain to Portugal?

Many adventurous individuals have experienced the thrill of traveling by zip-line: a pulley suspended from an inclined cable that whisks riders from one end to the other, propelled only by gravity. Some zip-lines traverse rainforest canopies or canyons, providing riders with panoramic views while also giving them an adrenaline rush. But there is one zip-line in southwestern Spain that does even more. Spanning the Guadiana River between Sanlúcar de Guadiana, Spain, and Alcoutim, Portugal, Límite Zero is the world's only cross-border zip-line. And what's more, because Portugal is in a different time zone, riders technically travel an hour back in time when they reach the end of their minute-long trip.

Just zipping over to Portugal:

• After arriving in Alcoutim and seeing the sights, participants take a ferry across the river back to Spain.
• Riders can reach speeds of up to 50 mph (80 km/h) on the zip-line, which is about 2,362 feet (720 m) long.
• As the ferry only accommodates foot passengers and there is no bridge between Sanlúcar de Guadiana and Alcoutim, vehicles must travel over 46 miles (75 km) to complete the same journey.
