What is Fatty Tissue?

Fatty tissue is a kind of body tissue that is composed almost entirely from adipocytes, or fat cells. This makes it different from muscular tissue, which is composed primarily from amino acids, and bones, which are composed primarily from a combination of various minerals. While this tissue does have some good qualities, including its ability to aid in the maintenance of body temperature, in high amounts it poses serious health concerns, such as an increase in the occurrence of cardiovascular disease, stroke, and even some types of cancer. For good health, an intensive exercise and diet program should be maintained in order to aid in the decrease of fatty tissue stores in the body.

Often, this type of tissue is credited for helping to maintain body temperatures in adults. In reality, while high fat content can help to insulate the body against low temperatures, it does not do much to aid in lowering excessively high body temperatures. People with high body fat can typically tolerate cooler temperatures with greater ease than high temperatures.

Aiding in body thermogenics is not the only way in which fatty tissue can affect the body. In fact, high amounts of this tissue in adults have been found to be detrimental in a variety of ways. Studies have found that individuals suffering from high body fat typically experience higher rates of heart disease, stroke, and other cardiovascular conditions. Individuals with a family history of these conditions are often recommended to decreased fatty tissue as much as possible in order to decrease the chances of developing the conditions themselves.

Most experts recommend that fatty tissue levels be kept to a minimum in adults in order to achieve the best health possible. Medical studies have found that the best way to decrease body fat in adults is to participate in an exercise and healthy diet program. Cardiovascular exercise, such as walking, biking, swimming, and other similar repetitive exercises appear to be the best way to burn fat. In addition, sticking to a diet that focuses on the inclusion of fruits, vegetables, whole grain, and lean meats can help. Drinking plenty of water is also recommended in order to make sure that the fatty tissue that is burned during exercise can be flushed easily from the body.
