Aloe tea is a type of beverage made from the extracts or flowers of the aloe vera plant. The tea is sold in bags as an herbal blend, but users can also choose to make the beverage at home. Aloe vera tea is used to treat digestive problems and gastrointestinal ailments, but drinking too much might actually worsen symptoms. This plant is generally considered as safe when consumed in moderation.

The most common type of aloe tea is sold in bags or even loose in specialty stores. Ingredients vary in these teas, but ginger is a common complement to aloe vera, as it is another type of digestive aid. Some types contain fruit bits for a sweet blend, while others utilize spices, such as cinnamon. Herbal teas do not contain caffeine or any calories.

Aloe vera tea can also be made at home with juice or extracts of the plant. Users can brew their tea as normal, and then add aloe to the concoction. Herbal or black teas tend to blend best with these extracts. The average amount used is one teaspoon, but users might have to try out different amounts of the extract until they find their perfect blend. Consumers should also keep in mind that black tea with aloe will contain caffeine.

This type of herb exhibits a laxative effect, which is generally good if an individual has ongoing digestive problems, such as constipation. Aloe is also taken orally by some patients who suffer from arthritis, asthma, and diabetes. This type of tea can also help to improve symptoms associated with cough or the common cold. Patients might consider checking with a doctor before self-treating any health problems with aloe vera tea.

Certain side effects are associated with aloe tea, and the risk increases if too much is consumed. Drinking too much of the herb can actually worsen digestive ailments and even cause dehydration. Laxatives are also known for decreasing the absorption of nutrients and any medications that a person takes. It is generally best to limit aloe tea to one to two cups per day, unless a medical practitioner advises otherwise.

Tea with aloe can be brewed either hot or cold. More tea is needed for cold tea, because ice naturally dilutes the flavor. Hot tea is usually preferred when treating digestive ailments, because the heat exhibits a calming effect. Aloe can have a bitter taste to it; some drinkers add honey, orange juice, or lemon peel to help counteract any undesired tastes.

@turquoise-- If you like aloe vera juice and buy it often, I recommend making aloe tea with aloe vera juice. Simply mix with cold green tea and sweeten with natural sweetener. You could also combine it with another herbal tea or even fruit juice if you want.

I think both dry and fresh aloe are beneficial. So feel free to use what you have access to at the time. That's what I do. I use dry aloe tea when I have that and aloe vera juice when I have that. I have overcome severe acid reflux with the help of aloe vera tea.

I drink an aloe tea made with aloe blossoms, but the tea also contains blackberry leaf and ginger. This is my go-to herbal tea when I'm experience stomach upset or fatigue. It makes me feel much better because it's soothing for the stomach as the article said. I also feel less tired after having this tea.

I think it tastes good too. I'm sure that the additional ingredients are partly responsible for that though. I have not tried an aloe tea made just with aloe blossoms, so I can't comment on the flavor of pure aloe teas.

I've tried aloe vera juice before and I really enjoy the aloe vera drinks sold at Asian groceries. So I think I will like aloe tea.

The dry variety sounds like a good option because it will be easy to store and it won't spoil. But is dried aloe just as beneficial as fresh aloe?
