What is a Twirling Spaghetti Fork?

The twirling spaghetti fork is, perhaps, one of those utensils that one doesn’t know they need, but won’t want to live without. To master the art of eating spaghetti, one needs the proper spaghetti eating utensils, usually a fork and a spoon, and the proper technique. The twirling spaghetti fork is a utensil that automatically combines utensil and technique, and lets any average Giovanni eat pasta like a pro.

Pasta, a staple of Italian cuisine, comes in enough shapes, sizes, and sauces to make your head spin! Spaghetti is perhaps the most widely known pasta outside of Italy. The Italians don’t seem to have any trouble capturing the pasta noodles between the tines of a fork, but for the rest of us, pasta can be a pest. The long think noodles of spaghetti can be especially slippery, offering nothing to dig a fork into. Without the right technique, it’s common to end up with a meager mouthful, if even a solitary spaghetti noodle.

However, the twirling spaghetti fork eliminates the mystique of the traditional pasta twirling technique, and makes it easy to get a satisfying bite. The user need only insert the tines of the twirling spaghetti fork into a plate of spaghetti, press a button, and presto! The fork spins around, reeling in the noodles until the button is released.

The twirling spaghetti fork is battery operated, and comes in a number of colors. A number of companies offer this handy utensil, and it can be easily ordered online.

For the traditionalist, it is possible to learn the technique of twirling spaghetti without the help of the automated twirling spaghetti fork. With the tines of a fork, the consumer should lift three or four noodles out of the middle of a pile of spaghetti. The tines of the fork can be placed next to the side of the pasta dish, or into a spoon. The fork should be twirled, keeping the tines against the still surface of the bowl or spoon, until the noodles are raveled around the fork, and can then be placed in the mouth. This may take a few tries, but as with any skill, practice makes perfect.
