What is a Cytomel® Cycle?

A Cytomel® cycle is a time-specific regimen of the drug Cytomel®. The drug is a thyroid hormone that is used in the medical profession to treat thyroid deficiency, obesity, and fatigue. Cytomel® is a medicinal concoction of the natural thyroid hormone know as triiodothyronine. The drug increases metabolism and allows for more rapid use of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats in the body.

Those with thyroidal deficiency often experience weight gain, slow speech, stunted growth, and lack of energy. A Cytomel® cycle is frequently prescribed to individuals suffering from these difficulties. In addition, the drug is often used to treat an enlarged thyroid and test for hyperthyroidism, a condition in which too much thyroid hormone is produced in the body.

Bodybuilders frequently start Cytomel® cycles in an effort to lose excess body fat. It is especially popular to use in the lead-up to a competition. The drug allows quick weight loss without the need to drastically cut caloric intake. When used in conjunction with anabolic steroids, it helps to heighten the physical effect of the steroids on the body. This is due to the drug’s ability to increase the body’s use of protein, which increases muscle development.

A Cytomel® cycle typically doesn’t last longer than six weeks. The buildup and weaning-off period should be slow and tapered to prevent negative side effects. Taking too much Cytomel® for too long can result in permanent thyroid problems. Usually to start, one tablet is ingested every three days. The injectable version of the drug is too powerful for everyday use; thus, the tablet version is most often prescribed.

Some of the side effects of a Cytomel® cycle include heart palpitations, shortness of breath and sweating. Nausea and irregular heartbeat can also occur. The drug could possibly change natural thyroidal functions of the body for good, and as a result, it should be taken with extreme caution. Individuals should consult a doctor before ingesting Cytomel®—the drug shouldn’t be used without a prescription, and it is recommended that it be used to treat serious ailments only. When taking the drug, the doses are typically separated throughout the day to maintain appropriate blood levels.

It should be noted that women are more susceptible to the side effects of Cytomel® than men. Thyroid function should always be tested before starting a Cytomel® cycle. In individuals with abnormal thyroid function, a Cytomel® cycle can provide significant benefits. If a potential patient has a history of chest pain, diabetes, heart attack, or high blood pressure, it is important that he notify his doctor, as he will probably not be able to take the drug.
