It is the recruitment coordinator's job to locate and screen suitable candidates for a position, arrange for interviews, and organize the initial stages of hiring.

There are many ways a coordinator might find a candidate for an open job position. Often, an advertisement will be placed in classified pages of newspapers and posted to websites, with the information about that position. In some industries, it is common to cold call potential employees about an open position. Sometimes, the coordinator may sort through resumes that have been submitted to a jobs website or database to find suitable candidates.

The next step for a recruitment coordinator will be to arrange for the application and interviewing of potential candidates. Generally, the coordinator will not interview the candidates but will arrange for a recruiter or human resources manager to conduct the interview. The coordinator may schedule an interview and arrange travel for the prospective employee.

A recruitment coordinator may be in charge of running screening and sourcing the candidates. This means contacting references, running background checks, and verifying education and past employment. After this, the coordinator may advise on the suitability of a candidate for a particular position.
