My grandmother is from India and she is a big believer in the therapeutic uses of bael fruit. In fact, for many years she had bael fruit imported to her here in the States.

She would eat some almost any time she felt ill. It wasn't just for nausea or respiratory pain, she would eat some when she had sore muscles, a runny nose or even when she was feeling kind of depressed.

I went on a vacation to India a few years ago with my husband and children. We went on an extended sightseeing tour and at one point my husband fell ill with terrible stomach troubles.

I was really worried and wanted my husband to see a doctor immediately. My husband is stoic to a fault and we were not close to a quality medical facility so it seemed unlikely that we would find a doctor or medicine.

The tour guide suggested that my husband eat some bael fruit. He did and his symptoms were gone the next day. In fact, he said that he felt fantastic. So there really is something to this incredible fruit. I have never put a lot of stock in natural remedies but the bael fruit is turning me into a believer.
