What Are the Different Ways to Use Garlic Pepper?

Garlic pepper from a shaker can or jar may be used in a variety of ways. Seasoning with garlic and pepper before cooking can add flavor to poultry, beef, or pork. Many cooks prefer to use garlic pepper as a rub for various meats and seafood, although these spices are not only used for seasoning. Garlic pepper sauce can be poured over pasta, meat, or fish. Often considered a delicacy, hot garlic pepper jelly may be used as a spread for crackers.

Various chicken recipes call for the use of garlic and pepper combined. Garlic pepper may be used when preparing a bread crumb coating for chicken, pork, or veal. To make the bread crumb coating, Italian bread may be used. Garlic pepper can be sprinkled onto the bread crumb mix, which will be used for coating the chicken or pork.

Skillet recipes can be made more flavorful using garlic pepper. Garlic and peppered shrimp is one idea. The garlic and pepper mix can be added to fresh or frozen baby shrimp and prepared over the stove. Shrimp scampi can also be prepared with garlic and pepper, as well as other spices. Shrimp scampi may be made with lemon juice as well, and served over a bed of rice or with linguini.

Garlic pepper is also can complement Italian or Swedish style meatballs. Meatballs prepared with garlic and ground black pepper can be served with pasta dishes or used for meatball sandwiches. Mini meatballs prepared with pepper and garlic are good choices for sliders, which are served on a mini-sized bun.

Pepper and garlic mix may also be used for preparing meatloaf. Cilantro, parsley, and oregano may also be added. This mixture is often used as a rub for ground beef.

A garlic and pepper mix can also be used for preparing meatless recipes. A tangy recipe known as garlic and black pepper tofu is preferred by many vegetarians and vegans. This flavorful dish is prepared with a block of cubed tofu, minced garlic, soy sauce, and ground black pepper.

The mixture of garlic and pepper has uses outside the kitchen, too. They can be used to control pests in the garden. Pouring a small amount of freshly brewed garlic pepper tea directly on plants may help eliminate pests. Instead of using black ground pepper, however, cayenne pepper may be used. Alternately, jalapeno or habanero peppers can be used when brewing garlic and pepper tea.
