What Are the Different Types of Natural Acne Scar Treatment?

There are a variety of home remedies which can be used for natural acne scar treatment. Powdered sandalwood, mixed with either rosewater or black gram, can be mixed into a mask and applied to affected areas. Lemon juice can help make scars lighter and less noticeable. Both cucumber and tomato are good for soothing the skin and reducing the appearance of scars. Natural moisturizers like honey and olive oil may also help soothe skin, as can the application of ice.

One of the best types of natural acne scar treatment is sandalwood. Sandalwood powder can be mixed into a paste with either black gram, a type of bean from southeast Asia, or rosewater to be used as a mask on the face or other scarred areas. It should be applied and allowed to dry, then washed off with cold water.

Another type of natural acne scar treatment which works for some people is lemon juice. Rubbing the juice into the skin can help it heal due to its high vitamin C content. This treatment is particularly effective for making scars that are red or discolored lighter.

Tomato and cucumber can both be rubbed on the skin for natural acne scar treatment. Cucumber helps cool and soothe inflamed, red areas on the skin, and can be applied in slices or as juice. The vitamin A in tomato is good for repairing skin damage; rubbing tomato slices over scarred areas can reduce their appearance and improve the skin's texture. Both treatments should be left on the skin for about 15 minutes and then washed off with cold water to get the maximum effects.

Applying ice to the skin can reduce irritation and inflammation and help diminish scarring.

Both honey and olive oil, which nourish and moisturize the skin, may be effective as an acne scar treatment. Honey has many properties which make it an ideal treatment for discolored areas and pockmarks; it soothes the skin, moisturizes it, and also acts as an antiseptic to prevent infection from ongoing acne blemishes. Olive oil can also moisturize the skin and improve its texture, making scars less noticeable.

Rubbing ice cubes directly on the skin is another method of natural acne scar treatment. Ice will cool the skin, reducing irritation and inflammation. It also helps to shrink the oversized pores sometimes associated with acne scarring. The cubes should be rubbed over the skin for several minutes to see positive results.

Yay! I love articles like this because there really are so many things that you can find in nature to treat and cure your skin -- and other conditions, by the way -- but many people simply discount them because they don't come with a mile-long scientific pedigree.

I am particularly pleased to see that you put sandalwood on your list of natural acne scar removal products. That really is one of the best ones out there, at least from my personal experience in back acne scar treatments based on sandalwood -- and it is so soothing and pleasant too.

I would definitely recommend anybody to try the natural treatments before going in for that crazy expensive acne scar laser treatment stuff though. You'd be surprised just how well a routine of natural products can work, as long as you use them consistently and appropriately. And then think how much better you'll feel -- not only will your acne scars be gone; you'll have saved a ton of money too!

So try it out -- you might be surprised at the results.

Namaste!

Who knew there were so many different natural acne scar removal treatments -- I had no idea that there were so many different things I could smear on my face, yet also use in a salad!

I'm not meaning to pop any balloons here, but I do have to ask whether you guys have actually tried these remedies out, or if you are just quoting from other sources. I ask just because it seems like a lot of the sites that claim to have the "best acne scar treatment" around end up repeating what others have said.

You guys didn't do that, which makes me wonder where you got your information.

Anyway, very interesting, and unfortunately, timely article for me! I definitely need all the help I can get to get rid of my acne scars!

Wow -- awesome article! I had never heard of so many of these remedies, I will definitely be trying them.

Unfortunately, a lot of times the natural remedies don't work really well for me, since I have some really deep craters left over from my teenage years. I mostly have to end up going in for specifically designed pitted acne scar laser treatment, which is certainly more expensive, but works well -- at least for me.

One thing I have noticed is it seems like a lot of acne scar removal methods really only work on new acne scars. Maybe it's just me, but have you guys noticed the same thing? Anyway, great article -- thanks for the info!
