You’ll find many great things to do in Grand Forks, including visiting a variety of museums and sites of historic interest. Grand Forks was settled in 1801 as a fur-trading post and although major floods in 1997 ruined some parts of the city, it has been mostly rebuilt. The John D. Odegard School for Aerospace Science, the North Dakota Museum of Art and the Myra Museum offer the visitor excellent things to do in Grand Forks.

The John D. Odegard School for Aerospace Science, located at the University of North Dakota (UND) near Grand Forks International Airport, is known to have star shows and tours for the general public. Check ahead for availability. The School has air traffic control simulators and flight simulators. Said to be one of the top aviation complexes in the world, the John D. Odegard School for Aerospace Science makes contributions in many different developments that relate to topics such as commercial aviation, computer science and atmospheric management. The School has a high-altitude chamber and houses the Regional Weather Information Center.

The North Dakota Museum of Art offers more excellent things to do in Grand Forks at UND. The Museum has contemporary art from all over the world including Native American pieces. You'll find photographs and paintings as well as sculptures such as Kiki Smith's glass and bronze representations of the human form. The North Dakota Museum has both permanent and traveling art collections and is also known to have classical music concerts.

Visiting the Myra Museum is one of the best things to do in Grand Forks for history buffs since the grounds house the original Grand Forks Post Office made from logs. The Post Office was remodeled into a general store. Campbell House, also on the Myra Museum grounds, was built in 1897 and is dedicated to pioneer women. The Museum and Campbell House are run by the Grand Forks County Historic Society.
