What Are Flexible Tanks?

Flexible tanks are bladders that are capable of holding a variety of liquids, and they commonly are made from flexible plastic. These flexible tanks are available in just about any size and shape, and they come in both disposable and reusable varieties. The advantages such tanks have over metal or glass tanks are that they do not break as easily and they can better fit in specific areas. Individuals and businesses typically use these to haul liquids, but they also can be used for product packaging.

When someone needs to move liquid, it usually is placed in a metal or glass tank — or a container made from another hard material — and then loaded onto a car or truck. Unlike these hard cases, flexible tanks are made from thin and flexible plastic that allows the tanks to bend and move. The soft case also keeps the tanks from shattering. Water is the most common liquid carried in these tanks, but they also can be made to carry oil and chemicals when needed.

Much like hard tanks, flexible tanks can come in any shape or size. There are small cases that can easily fit in a car, and large cases that have to be pulled by a large truck. Unlike hard cases, which can take a long time to make, flexible cases usually do not take very long. They also come in disposable and reusable grades, with the disposable grade typically being slightly thinner. Most tanks are custom made to a client's specifications, but there are some standard sizes that are mass-produced for clients.

There are several advantages to using flexible tanks instead of hard tanks. The tanks are flexible and easily can be pushed around without structural damage, so they have a better time fitting in cramped areas and can be easily stacked. They also do not crack and shatter like other hard cases. They may leak or rip open, but they will not shatter like metal or glass, making cleanup much easier.

The most common users of flexible tanks are people and businesses that need to carry liquid. At the same time, these tanks sometimes are used for consumer product packaging, but this usually is avoided because the tanks typically are more expensive than other packaging materials. Regardless of why the tanks are used, they usually are easy to fill with a hose or similar apparatus.
