What Are Eyebrow Fillers?

Eyebrow fillers are cosmetics designed to give a more uniform look to sparse or patchy eyebrows. Unlike an eyebrow tint, which changes the color of the eyebrows, eyebrow fillers work by creating the illusion of eyebrow hair where none exists. Fillers come in a variety of forms, and it is up to the individual user to decide which type works best for him or her. Some individuals may also choose to undergo eyebrow tattooing, which offers a more durable approach to filling in eyebrow gaps.

Many people recognize that their eyebrows have a significant effect on their facial appearance. For this reason, people may spend a great deal of time and money on eyebrow shaping and grooming. Unfortunately, some people may have very sparse eyebrows or may even have gaps in the brow where there is no hair. These gaps are often caused by previous injuries that caused scar tissue to form, preventing hair growth. People with sparse brows or brow cuts may choose to use cosmetic treatments such as eyebrow fillers to conceal their lack of brow hair growth.

Two common types of eyebrow fillers are the eyebrow pencil and pen. An eyebrow pencil is a somewhat waxy pigment stick that allows its user to draw on eyebrows or fill in eyebrow hair gaps. Similar to an eyebrow pencil is the eyebrow pen, which is similar to a felt tip marker and contains a liquid coloring. Both pencils and pens offer users the advantages of precise application and a great deal of control in applying color.

Some people prefer to apply an eyebrow filler with a brush. Both powder and wax fillers are available for use on eyebrows. In fact, some cosmetic companies sell sets of eyebrow powder and eyebrow wax and complementary colors. The user can fill in the eyebrows using the tinted wax and then apply the powder to set the wax. Many people believe that eyebrow powders offer a more natural look than pencils, though working with a brush and powder may require significant practice before an individual can achieve the look that he or she wants.

A disadvantage of many cosmetic eyebrow fillers is that they need to be reapplied on a daily basis. For some consumers, particularly those who have significant eyebrow loss, eyebrow tattooing may be a good option. This type of eyebrow filler requires undergoing tattooing in the eyebrow area, which can be painful, risky, and expensive. It has the advantage, however, of providing those who undergo the procedure with the look of having full eyebrows for a significant period of time.

Never over-pluck your eyebrows! This will create a vicious cycle that will have to constantly filling in your eyebrows with fillers.

I have found that the best way to fill in your eyebrows is to dye them first. This will make them darker and give you a natural look. It will also last for a long time, at least 3 to 4 weeks. Next, all you will have to do during your daily cosmetic application routine is fill in sparse spots with an eyebrow pencil.

Except in cases of eyebrow loss, I would not recommend eyebrow tattooing in place of using eyebrow make up for filling them in. I have a relative that had this procedure done, and it looked harsh and unnatural. Since it is a permanent method, she was stuck with the results.
