How Many Commuters Leave before 6am?

In the United States, 12.6% of people who work outside of the home begin their commute before 6am, with 4.2% starting between midnight and 4:59am. The most common departure time for commuters is between 7am and 7:30am, when 14.9% of workers leave home. Men are more likely to be early commuters, with 16.2% of men leaving for work before 6:00am, compared to 8.2% of women.
