How do I Choose the Best Waterproof Walkie Talkie?

Choosing the best waterproof walkie talkie does not need to be a difficult process, though you should certainly do some research on any model before making a purchase. There are certain features you should look for, including the number of channels the walkie talkie can use, whether or not it can float, the color of the device, and its range in use. You can also consider other features and accessories, such as belt clips and different display options.

A walkie talkie is an electronic device that can be used to talk between two or more devices over relatively long distances. Different models will usually have different ranges at which they can be used, with more expensive ones being able to communicate from well over 20 miles (32 km) apart. A waterproof walkie talkie includes many of the other features found in standard walkie talkies, while also providing protection from damage due to submersion in water. This type of device can be very helpful for anyone who does a great deal of camping, and it is especially useful for someone who spends time rafting or fishing.

One of the most important features of this device is that it truly is waterproof, even when fully submerged. Some devices may be water resistant or partially waterproof, so you should look for any stipulations on the label. You should also look for a model that floats in water, rather than sinks, so if you do drop it overboard, you will be able to reclaim it quickly. This can be made easier by choosing a walkie talkie that is bright yellow or orange, rather than just black, in case it is dropped at night.

You should also look for a waterproof walkie talkie that offers you many different channels to use, simply to ensure you can find a strong signal when communicating. Most will also indicate the range at which they can be used, and you should look for as long a range as you can afford. Some devices will have standard displays that show the channel being used and other information, and you may want to find one with a backlit display for easier reading at night or in an emergency. You should also look for a walkie talkie with any accessories you may want, such as a belt clip or rechargeable batteries.

I know that a lot of walkie talkies are waterproof. But does that mean they are also functional under water?

I just bought a walkie talkie headset that I plan to use while I am paint balling. But it occurs to me that I never checked to see if it was waterproof.

Hopefully this won't be a problem. Usually your head doesn't get wet during paint ball. But we do play in the rain sometimes. I will have to check it out before I use it.

If your are buying a walkie talkie it should really always be waterproof. Walkie talkies are meant for rugged, outdoor use, and it is almost inevitable that they will get wet at one point or another. Buy one that is water proof and one that can withstand a lot of bumps and bangs.
