How Do I Choose the Best Pubic Hair Removal Cream?

A good pubic hair removal cream will likely work less effectively than a cream for other areas of the body, because the formula will be less harsh. Additionally, the thick, coarse hair in the pubic area will typically resist the cream's attempt to break down the structure of the hair. Many people who frequently use a hair removal cream in this area agree that the best cream will leave the skin smooth, comfortable, and free of irritation, even if a few hairs require touching up later.

Before purchasing a cream with the intent of using it to remove your pubic hair, first make sure it is actually designed for use in the pubic area. Creams that are meant for the legs, arms, or other areas of the body will likely have formulas that are much too harsh for the delicate skin in the genital area. Even creams that claim to be usable on sensitive skin may only be intended for other areas, such as the legs.

Most hair removal creams smell bad by default, until additional chemicals are added to give the cream a more pleasant scent. Sometimes, however, the perfume agents can cause even more skin irritation than the original formula. It might be best to look for a pubic hair removal cream without added scent. In this case, be prepared for a slight unpleasant smell left behind after using the cream. For this reason, you may want to use the product the day before a date or special occasion instead of the same day so that the odor has time to fade.

Some types of cream have ingredients that inhibit future hair growth. This causes regrowth to appear finer and possibly more sparse with repeated usage of the cream. It also tends to make future hair removal quicker and easier, since the hairs will be less thick, coarse, and resistant to breakdown.

In all cases, with whatever cream you choose to purchase, it is a good idea to do a patch test first to make sure you do not have a reaction to the chemicals in the formula. Waiting an hour or so after the patch test is a small price to pay for the assurance that you will not have an unsightly, painful reaction. Also, restrict hair removal to the bikini line instead of the entire area. It is unlikely that using even the gentlest pubic hair removal cream on the genital area will be painless.

What you may not know can harm you. The very harsh chemicals in hair removal cremes can and do, cause hyper pigmentation (color change) in some skin types. This skin color change is permanent. Dry, cracked and red, irritated skin may also result and your skin may also be very sensitive to sunlight after use. Never use a depilatory on the pubic region, as the skin is much thinner here and much more sensitive to burning than elsewhere.

Waxing has its problems too, and costs a great deal in money and pain and in having to expose one's privates to strangers.

Laser does not always work on all hair types and when it does work, it burns the hair and so it can also burn and discolor the skin permanently. Also it takes several painful and expensive applications to complete.

The best hair removal method is to get a good personal shaver, not the wet blade shaver or face shaver type, such as Cleancut or Body Bare. The best, cheapest and the largest (which means quickest) is the rechargeable unisex Hair eRazor shaver, which in my opinion, and has far more features for less money, including a no pain, no itch foil. It costs about 2 cents per shave and gives a very smooth finish.
