When my mother was recovering from a stroke, she had to have her medication crushed. I invested in a high quality pill crusher.
It seemed a little expensive at the time, but sure made the job of crushing up the pills easy. It was quiet and easy to operate. Even if someone had arthritic hands, they would still be able to use one of these.
One thing I really liked about this pill crusher is that it had individual pouches to keep the medication in. This way when you were crushing more than one type of pill you wouldn't get them mixed up.
If you have trouble swallowing large pills, a pill crusher can come in handy. I have one that I use from time to time, but would rather use a pill splitter.
When I use a splitter I can easily cut the pill in half so it is easier to swallow. Before I bought one, I would just use a table knife to cut the pill in half. This worked as long as the pill wasn't too big or round.
