I have a round face and round, small eyes. I think that my eyes add to the overall roundness of my face. So I try to change that by applying liquid eyeliner just on my top lids. I extend the line slightly beyond to make my eyes long. Individual eyelash extensions on the outer end of my eyelashes accomplish this as well.
I don't emphasize my cheekbones because they are very plump and round. I use a very light pink blush at most, which is barely noticeable.

The reason that two different shades are being used is to bring the middle of the face forward while pushing the sides of the face back. This is the effect that lighter and darker shades of foundation. When a lighter colored foundation is applied to the middle of the face, these areas become emphasized. So it looks like the forehead, the nose and chin are longer than they really are. When a darker shade of foundation is used on the sides of the face, these areas-- temples and cheeks-- look more hallow. Overall, this gives a longer look to the face.
The same idea can be used to do contouring with powder makeup. For example, you can use a light brown tone around the temples, below the cheeks and on the sides of the nose to push these areas back. And you can apply a white highlighter on the middle of the nose, on the cheekbones, forehead and chin to make these areas longer.
I don't understand the idea behind using two different shades of foundation. Won't it look weird?
